Mission and Important Announcements

Please join teachers, administrators, higher education professionals, students, consultants and organizations in sharing ideas for using digital media in classroom curriculums to promote student learning, especially in reading, writing and speaking.

The mission of Literacy in a Digital Classroom is to provide a place for collaboration and communication for using technology in the classroom to promote student learning in reading, writing and speaking.

This space should not be used for advertising commercial products beyond a casual reference in the context of a conversation. Links to appropriate content may be provided if they are useful for other educators.

Monster With Halloween just around the corner, my first grade students are thinking about monsters. I am always thinking about technology, so I gather online and technology monster resources. Let me share with you the ways I add technology to the students' learning experiences using monsters as a theme.

G'Day Mates!

I just returned from two weeks in Australia. No, I won't bore you with my 1200 digital photos. But I would like to tell you about one of the best technology experiences I had. Yes, I even travel thinking about technology. And yes, I also brought my laptop to Australia.

Summer Learning

Throughout the summer break many teachers and students often have time to expand their own personal learning. They may choose to travel, read or take classes. Many teachers spend time on their own learning new skills. If they are like me, they will learn a new technology skill. I will be learning Logic Pro.

Just having a little extra time to explore websites is often a goal of many teachers and students. So here are some of my favorite websites to explore. Teachers can explore lesson plans on Scholastic's TeacherShare. They can learn new software or new skills from Atomic Learning. Tools for Collaboration

Collaboration_2   Collaboration is a skill we want our students to learn, whether it's collaborating face-to-face in a group or online. Many times students will start a project in class, then need to finish it as homework. Collaborating online allows them to work from home, assuming that they have Internet and a computer at home. There are so many options using Web 2.0 resources.
